One Dress for One Month

For the month of May I have decided to wear only one dress for the entire month and document how I wear it differently ever day. (Yes, I will be washing it throughout the month.)

Often I find myself wanting new clothes. Probably too often. An event, no matter how big or small, is usually all the excuse I need to buy something new to wear. The trouble with that is I have a closet full of really great articles of clothing that I’ve only worn once or twice and to me it kinda feels wrong. What a waste. I feel like buying something new every time is a cop-out of creativity. Clothing is such a fun artistic medium to play around with and usually the best outfits arrive when you need to “work with what you got.”

I have this ideal that my wardrobe should be simplified, utilitarian and beautiful. I’m a firm believer in staple pieces of clothing and supporting pieces of clothing.

Over the next month I hope to inspire you to think creatively about your wardrobe as I challenge myself to re-wear one article of clothing differently for 31 days. I will be taking a look at what characteristics you need in a staple piece of clothing and what are key supporting pieces to have in your wardrobe.

To see daily how I re-wear my dress you can follow me on twitter @hellocoriander #1dress1month, on Instagram you can find me as hellocoriander and I’ll be sharing the Instagram photos on Coriander’s Facebook page too.

If you don’t want to worry about all that, but do want to see what I wear, I’ll be posting weekly right here with new photos of how I styled the dress the previous week.

My sister made me this dress and I am so happy to be wearing something she created! You can see more of her creations HERE!

The Hootons did a fantastic job on these photos! Thanks!

Love the idea! I’ll definitely be watching out for the updates.

And yes, LOVE the dress! I could take it just a *little bit* shorter… but will definitely check out your sister’s creations.

    • We had discussed making it a bit shorter, but the print on the bottom warranted the final length. Thanks for keeping a look out!
